Capture a Photo From Video in Adobe Premiere Pro

If you are like me, you often run into cases where you want to take a screenshot of a video but don’t trust doing a screenshot in a generic video player.

Utilizing Adobe Premier to capture a screenshot is recommended if you want a clear crisp shot. To complete this task, follow the following easy-to-do steps.

Step 1: Start New Project

Open Adobe Premiere Pro and start a new project

Step 2: Name the Project

Name your project and save it either to the default file location or the location of your liking and click on the OK button.

Step 3: Select Video

Choose the video file from the media browser. If the media browser is not displayed double click on edit at the top of your screen. Make sure that you double-click the video file so that it appears in the video player.

Step 4: Extend Viewing Area (Optional)

Change the size of your viewing screen by dragging the borders of the video player. The zoom on the video can also be adjusted.

Step 5: Find the Frame and Get the Shot

Play your video until you get to the frame that you want a screenshot of. At this point press the stop button. You may also drag the blue position finder. Now select the little camera icon to complete a screenshot.

Step 6: Save Your File

Now name your file and click OK.

Step 7: Retrieve Your File

Retrieve your photo by going to the file location that you chose earlier. If you chose the default location and are using Windows, go to:
